Chris is a director of our firm and has been a member of the PH Group of Association Firms since 2006. He regularly represents clients from all walks of life in all levels of Court in both criminal, civil and labour matters.
Chris grew up in Bloemfontein and after completing his legal studies at the University of the Free State during 1991, he completed his articles of clerkship and relocated to Upington in 1993 to join Lange Carr & Wessels Inc. He became a director in 1996.
Due to the nature of a rural legal practice, Chris is exposed to various areas of the law. Chris specializes in labour law, criminal law and general civil litigation, and believes in justice and the rule of law. Passionate about labour law, Chris was a part-time CCMA senior commissioner from 1997 to 2020. Chris also was a panelist of various bargaining councils including the National Bargain Council for the Road Freight and Logistics Industry and the South African Road Passenger Bargaining Council for many years. He regularly acts as chairperson during disciplinary inquiries in various sectors, including local government. In his free time, Chris enjoys exercising and spending time with his wife and two daughters.
