A vibrant director at our firm, Melissa specializes in criminal law and related matters, civil and general litigation and family law including maintenance matters and children’s rights, divorces, domestic violence and harassment matters.

Melissa obtained her LL.B and LL.M degrees from the University of the Free State. Melissa also attended the Law Society of South Africa’s LEAD Law School. She joined the firm in 2012 as an article clerk and was appointed as an associate in 2013. She became a director in 2019, the first female to do so in the history of Lange Carr & Wessels.

Melissa puts her passion for people and justice to good use in her profession, with the ability to think on her feet in pressure situations. Melissa approaches her work with empathy, as she is cognizant of the emotional anguish that often accompanies family disputes. She ensures that the extra mile is always undertaken in the service she delivers to her clients. In her spare time, she likes to read and spend time with family and friends.
